Amalgamation of Professions
The regulatory bodies covering Denturists, Dental Hygienists and Dental Technicians in Nova Scotia are being amalgamated under a new Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). This process should be finalized by the end of 2024. More details here.
The old Denturists Act was repealed in 2023. Here is the new Act:
Expanded Scope of Practice of Denturists
On October 30, 2019, an amendment affecting the scope of practice of Denturists in Nova Scotia received Royal Assent in the Legislature.
Denturists in Nova Scotia may now place removeable dentures over implants, as they are qualified and trained to do, and as Denturists can do in most of Canada.
